The perfect candle experience is a combination of high-quality ingredients, a careful production process, and intentional candle care practices. Here are a few tips to ensure a long-lasting, optimal burn.

Trim the wicks: Keeping your wicks trimmed allows your candles to burn longer, cleaner, stronger and safely. Before each burn, trim the wick to about ¼”.

Let the wax pool: Each time you burn your candle, allow the entire top layer to become a fragrant pool of liquid wax to get the biggest, boldest scent possible. This is important not only to get the strongest scent, but also to prevent your candle from tunneling.

Do not burn for more than 4 hours: We highly recommend that candles be extinguished after burning for 4 hours, allowed to cool for at least 2 hours, and then trimmed before relighting. This is not only an important safety precaution, but important for the longevity and quality of your candle.

Burn safely: Always burn your candle on a heat resistant surface, keep it out of drafts, and never leave it unattended while lit.

Discontinue use when 1/4” of wax remains: Once the majority of the wax has been consumed, the flame will heat the container making the bottom of the jar hot. To prevent possible heat damage to your container and surface, stop burning after only 1/4" of your candle is left.

The refill program is offered locally in Richmond, VA to customers who purchase the full size 10oz candles. Receive 10% off your new candle when you bring back your old one to be sanitized and reused. You must be able to drop off your empty vessel(s) to our studio located in downtown Richmond. Once you finish burning your candle, simply bring back the empty vessel to the studio to swap out for a NEW discounted 10oz candle (10% off!) of your choice! Choose the same fragrance or try a new one!

Pro-Tip: Skip the wait and place your refill order online to pay in advance and have your new candle ready for pickup at the studio!

We offer free shipping for orders over $150. Shipping rates are based on the weight of your order and the shipping destination. Rates are calculated during online checkout.

Currently we ship in the US. While international shipping is not a standard option during checkout, we're always open to see if we can get an order to you! Please email us at hello@maventheory.co with your shipping address and items and we’ll retrieve international shipping rates.

We ship orders throughout the week and work hard to process and send them out as quickly as possible. Please allow up to 5 business days for your order to be processed and shipped. During the holiday season, shipping may take up to 2 weeks.

You will receive a confirmation email once it ships with a tracking code. Due to the state of the overworked shipping system, we cannot guarantee shipments

We accept any returns/exchanges on unused products that are in their original packaging and in a resellable condition 30 days after purchase.

You can return unused products to the studio during open hours. If shipping back your return, you are responsible for the original shipping charges to you.

As a small business creating products inspired by travel destinations, we want to practice and encourage responsible tourism and not solely profit off the likeness of these areas. 2% of each fragrance and candle purchase is reallocated to carefully-vetted, locally-run organizations that serve the communities in each of the respective destinations.
